Our Story

Military wives thriving and on mission

Hope studied missions & international, community health. She spent years living in other countries as well as working with internationals in the United States. She also had the privilege of being Melody’s roommate.

Melody worked on multiple college campuses as a discipler and campus minister. She also led groups of college students overseas before marrying a man in the military and becoming a military wife and, eventually, a stay-at-home mom.

When Melody and her husband were stationed overseas, Hope visited. As she took in the exotic sights and smells, the seeds of Foreign Soils were planted. Hope was struck by the amazing opportunity Melody had to share the Good News of Jesus with her neighbors – neighbors who had never before had the chance to hear that Jesus loves them.

When Hope returned from her visit overseas, the conviction that military wives have an incredible, God-given opening to share the Good News with people who would never otherwise hear it began to percolate and grow.

In 2020, Melody and Hope started Foreign Soils to mobilize military wives (& their families) by inspiring them to reach the unreached and equipping them with the skills to do so. As the ministry has grown, others have joined the work. Their vision is to see military wives actively reaching unreached people groups in every overseas station.
